When Joseph Howe negotiated better terms for Nova Scotia and joined the federal cabinet, 14 remaining Anti-Confederate MPs followed suit, joining the Liberal-Conservatives or Liberals as the Anti-Confederate movement collapsed.
The Anti-Confederate party ceased to exist. Notable members included McLelan, McKeagney, Hugh McDonald, Coffin, Cameron, Chipman, Forbes, Ross, and Alfred Gilpin Jones.
