Six PQ MNAs — Louise Beaudoin, Pierre Curzi, Lisette Lapointe, Jean-Martin Aussant, Benoit Charette, and René Gauvreau — left the PQ to sit as independents, citing deep dissatisfaction with Pauline Marois's leadership and her stance on sovereignty.

Aussant founded Option nationale. Most did not run in 2012. Charette later joined the CAQ and became Minister of the Environment under Legault.
