Simard resigned from Doug Ford's Ontario PC caucus because the government cut funding for Franco-Ontarian services - including eliminating the French Language Commissioner. She represents one of Ontario's most francophone ridings.

What Happened

She joined the Liberals and was re-elected in 2022 - one of the few crossers to survive electorally. Her constituents appear to have supported her stand.
