Brent Rathgeber

Rathgeber was a Conservative backbencher who became increasingly frustrated with Stephen Harper's tight control over MPs. He felt MPs were being treated as rubber stamps rather than representatives of their communities. He left and wrote a book about it called 'Irresponsible Government.'

He ran as an independent in 2015 and lost. His book became a significant contribution to the debate about how much power a Prime Minister should have over individual MPs.
