Why They Crossed

Jansen was a Progressive Conservative who crossed all the way to the left-wing NDP - one of the rarest types of crossing. She cited harassment she experienced during the PC leadership race and the party's shift to the right.

What Happened

She was given a cabinet post (Minister of Infrastructure) by NDP Premier Rachel Notley. She lost her seat in the 2019 election when the NDP lost power.
