Frank Arthur Calder was a Nisga'a politician in British Columbia, the first Indigenous person elected to any Canadian legislature. Elected as a CCF/NDP MLA for Atlin in 1949, he served continuously until 1975. The record places his NDP-to-Social Credit change in 1975. The Supreme Court case bearing his name, Calder v. British Columbia (1973), established the existence of Aboriginal title in Canadian law. The record does not hold his reasons.

No affiliation spans have been compiled for this person yet. That means the compilation has not been done — it does not mean they never sat with a party.
Election results held in the project’s earlier tables. They are shown because they are real records, and they are not linked to the affiliation events by anything stronger than the person.
