Crossing the Floor is a Baldwin Industries project about affiliation changes in Canada’s federal and provincial legislatures. It preserves historical leads but publishes them as facts only after their evidence passes review.
Make events, people, affiliations, claims, sources, and revisions inspectable as linked but distinct units. The public core, open data, and correction process are available without an account.
Baldwin Industries is the accountable publisher and current maintainer. No advisory board, academic institution, or institutional partnership is claimed. Research, data, French, accessibility, security, and legal review are recorded controls; they are not presented as staffed positions when they are not staffed.
The project is funded and operated by Baldwin Industries. It carries no advertising, sells no political profiles, and has disclosed no funding from a party, candidate, caucus, government, or lobby group. Any change to that funding must be published here with its effective date.
Publication decisions follow recorded evidence, not a record’s alleged partisan benefit. An actual or perceived conflict affecting a decision must be logged in its editorial review; the case remains pending until the conflict is resolved.
Public pages require no account. Submissions and subscriptions collect only information needed for the requested service; addresses and personal fields are encrypted, while non-reversible fingerprints support deduplication and abuse limits.
The July 31, 2026 research release preserves 218 event leads and 208 named participations. No event has yet passed every publication control. This limitation appears in the product, API, and downloadable files.
